Why tilers need one.
Tiling triggers a SWMS more often than most tilers think — working above 2 metres on facades, stairwells or balconies is high-risk construction work under WHS Regulation 291, and disturbing asbestos-era underlay or wall sheeting on reno jobs definitely is. When does a tiler need a SWMS?+
Any time the work is high-risk construction work — tiling a facade, stairwell or balcony where you could fall more than 2 metres, or a reno where old underlay or wall sheeting might contain asbestos. On top of that, most builders and principal contractors require a SWMS from every trade on site regardless. Having one ready means no hold-ups at induction.
Does it cover silica dust from tile cutting?+
