BUILT FOR PLASTERERS

Plasterer SWMS Generator

Plastering means big sheets overhead, stilts and trestles under you, and clouds of sanding dust — plus asbestos surprises on reno jobs. We build plasterer SWMS documents that match your scope, from hanging and setting new board to patching older walls, with controls that stand up on site.

Why plasterers need one.

Sheeting stairwell voids, high ceilings and double-height walls puts you at a fall risk over 2 metres — that's high-risk construction work under WHS Regulation 291, and it needs a SWMS before you start. Disturbing old fibro or asbestos-backed walls on renovation work triggers it too. Builders will ask for the document at induction, and your state's WHS regulator can issue significant penalties if it's not in place.

Common plasterer hazards covered.

!Falls from stilts, trestles and scaffolds
!Manual handling of large plasterboard sheets
!Respirable dust from sanding joints and cutting sheets
!Shoulder and neck strain from overhead ceiling fixing
!Sheets falling during overhead installation
!Asbestos in old fibro and plaster on renovation jobs
!Cuts from routers, screw guns and utility knives
!Slips and trips on offcuts and cluttered floors while on stilts

High-risk work it flags.

PLASTERER WORK TYPICALLY TRIGGERS THESE HRCW CATEGORIES — WHS REGULATION 291:

CONSTRUCTION WORK THAT INVOLVES A RISK OF A PERSON FALLING MORE THAN 2 METRES
CONSTRUCTION WORK THAT INVOLVES, OR IS LIKELY TO INVOLVE, THE DISTURBANCE OF ASBESTOS
WHAT YOU'D TYPE IN

We're hanging and setting plasterboard through a new two-storey build. Ceilings and walls, around 300 sheets, working off trestles and stilts, with a stairwell void that puts us up over 4 metres. Sanding with power sanders, patching a couple of older walls in the existing part of the house.

WE TURN THAT INTO THE FULL DOCUMENT — STEPS, HAZARDS, CONTROLS, RISK RATINGS, PPE, EMERGENCY PLAN AND TOOLBOX TALK.

Fair questions.

Do plasterers need a SWMS?+

When the work is high-risk construction work, yes — and for plasterers that usually means fall risk over 2 metres in stairwell voids, high ceilings or off scaffold, or disturbing old asbestos-containing walls on renos. Beyond the legal side, most builders won't induct a plastering crew without a SWMS in hand. One document sorts both problems.

Can I edit the document before I pay?+

Yes — you review and edit every step before any money changes hands, so you can tune the job steps and controls to how your crew actually works. Once you're happy, pay and download the PDF. There's a 7-day refund on top of that.

What about asbestos on reno jobs?+

Disturbing asbestos is high-risk construction work, so the document flags it and sets out the controls — identifying suspect sheeting and getting it tested before anyone cuts into it. If material does contain asbestos, removal rules apply and licensed removalists may be needed; check with your state's WHS regulator. The SWMS covers how your plastering work avoids disturbing it.

What format does the SWMS come in?+

A clean PDF following the Safe Work Australia model SWMS format — the layout site managers across the country recognise. It works for all 8 Australian states and territories, with the correct legislation referenced for wherever the job is.

How does the crew sign on?+

Digitally — they scan a QR code and sign on their phones, or you can print it and collect signatures the old way. The toolbox talk mode lets you run the crew through the document on site, and it works offline when there's no reception.
